The Foundations: High school live newscast "WCHR" producer at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart featuring anchor & future news pro Haley Hinds, OLSH's WCHR newscast wins multiple RMU Digital Media Arts Consortium student awards, CCAC The Voice college newspaper reporter, independent contributor for live wrestling & racing events with major national websites & publications like WrestlingObserver.com and Racer Magazine.
The Evolution: First official writing positions with MMAFighting.com and MMAOpinon.com. School newspaper assigns hockey coverage during Pittsburgh Penguins 2009 Cup run. First website PAFighter.com is founded.
Growing Opportunity: Freelancing with many outlets in sports & entertainment while widening covering hockey. PAFighter is handed off. To expand into more writing the pioneering Penguins website PensReport.com is launched.
Building Momentum: Pens Report first obtains credentialing to cover professional hockey with Pittsburgh Penguins’ minor league affiliate. Staff grows to two regular reporters, as future Wheeling-Intelligencer sportswriter & Weirton Daily Times Sports Editor Andrew Grimm is added by Owen. Site covers its first live major event at the 2011 Pittsburgh Winter Classic & first live NHL Draft in Pittsburgh in 2012.

Expansion: After 4 successful seasons establishing a name for itself, Pens Report upscales staff to five regular reporters across the US & Canada while branching out into live international tournament coverage with the 2015 World Cup of Hockey.

Championship Peaks: Pens Report covers the Pittsburgh Penguins’ back-to-back Stanley Cup winning seasons. The championship coverage breaks site traffic records on web & social media, with views for multiple pieces of content reaching into the millions for the first time.

New Ground: After the Cup success Pens Report adds more writers, obtains sponsorships & affiliate partnerships for the first time, & upgrades the site's designs in 2018 & 2021.
Wider Stages: Owen joins additional internationally known hockey outlets as NHL copy editor for Sportscasting & Penguins contributor for The Hockey Writers.

Transitioning To News: Owen translates his news production background into a position as head of social media & the digital producer for The Butler Eagle newspaper & its sister publications The Cranberry Eagle & Butler Business Matters.
